Verified Reviewer |I asked one question in April of this...
- I paid 50p in April and was charged for an account I did not create.
- After a bank-advised card replacement, £38 was taken by the representative.
I asked one question in April of this year and paid the 50p as requested, and since then I have been charged for an account that I did not make. I contacted my bank, who suggested I get a new debit card, which I did, but on checking my bank account, I see another £38.00 has been taken by [PERSON_NAME].
How I do not know.
Where did JA get my new card details? I am a 77-year-old pensioner.
- Question was answered correctly
- I was charged monthly but i never had an account
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Be wary of JA. I was scammed but I had a refund when I complained.

Verified Reviewer |Refund
- On Feb 26 I paid $5 and was charged $90 monthly through Feb–May.
- The May refund was issued; I dispute Feb, Mar, Apr charges totaling $270.
On February 26th, I searched for JustAnswer and paid a $5 fee. I was not clearly informed that I was also signing up for a $90 monthly membership.
Without my knowledge, they charged me $90 every month from February to May, totaling $360.
They have only refunded the May charge. I would like to dispute the remaining three charges: February, March, and April, totaling $270.
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified Reviewer |I had a car issue on Saturday the 9th...
- Paid $5 to be refunded after chat help.
- A $43 recurring payment was set up and cancelled by the bank after failed card entries.
I had a car issue on Saturday the 9th of May, I was online with the chat bot who then referred me over to the "real" tech, but first I had to pay "only" $5.00 which would be refunded. WHAT A FCKIN SCAM YO ARE! I tried to enter my card, but mis-entered the digits, twice. My bank noticed and when I entered them for a third time, the transaction was cancelled by my bank. A TRANSACTION FOR $43 SET UP ON RECURRING PAYMENTS!
ARE YOU *** KIDDING ME?
I am SO thankful I know an influencer with over 550,000 subscribers and I am going to give her this story, with bank info proof and have her warn EVERYONE to stay away from your complete scam company.
Oh I know, you must be owned by trump, the scam artist of the world.
I hope you don't sleep at night, because what you are doing is the most fraudulent thing on the web.
ANY POTENTIAL CUSTOMER, UNDERSTAND THAT THEY WILL TAKE YOUR CREDIT INFO AND ABUSE IT UNTIL YOU ARE FORCED TO CLOSE OUT YOUR CARD! THIS IS A SCAM!!!
User's recommendation: THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM, DO NOT GIVE THEM A CENT!

Supporter |Resolved: Without notice, the "ask a question for $5" turned into a monthly subscription for $38.50.
- Paid $5 to ask a question, later billed $38.50.
- I did not knowingly sign up.
- The expert Adam Electric was competent.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. Complete refund sent to my credit card. Their AI chat bot accepted my reasoning. The $5 for a question was really a fee to subscribe to a $38/month service whether you use it or not. That was not explained in the $5 offer. There was no acceptance of the $38/month charges. The referral to an electrician was professional and convenient. It was the baiting that was wrong.
I did not knowingly or definitively sign up for a subscription.
The expert I asked questions, Adam Electric, was competent.
If the legal terms buried the $38.50, the $5 offer for a question was the scam. I read things carefully and would have seen the hidden charge. Here is their statement in FAQ:
"In most circumstances, when you use JustAnswer, you're signing up for a monthly membership-based service that gives you ongoing access to professionals. You will be charged a one-time join fee and also a monthly fee for use of the platform*.
Both fees are charged upon sign up, but the monthly charge will recur unless you cancel. You can cancel anytime prior to future billing periods to avoid future charges."
- Electrician was real
- No punctuation allowed here they offer answers to questions for 5 dollars but that is the application fee for a monthly subscription for 3850
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: JustAnswer charges you $5 to subscribe to a monthly fee of $38.50.

Verified Reviewer |Misleading and useless results after 1 1/2 hours on phone.
- Expected a $5 charge, billed $38.
- Tried Epson Fax Utility; Epson referred to Microsoft; printer controls were taken over.
- I paid $38 for the support.
Expected $5 charge that turned out to be $38. Asking for assistance on downloading an Epson Fax Utility program that failed to download the driver.
Epson support referred me to Microsoft, who took over printer controls. I am paying the $38 charge for their time and effort.
I think AI will do a much better job of support with the agent or customer. I wish Just Answers the best in the future.
- Seeing similar past complaints
- Need to be clear on their fees

Verified Reviewer |They have been scamming me!
- They asked a question and the support was helpful.
- Cancellation failed; charges over $100; agents disconnected and the contact number did not work.
I used there site and asked a question, which they were helpful about. Then I cancelled my subscription, and it turns out they did not cancel it and had been taking money out of my account anyways!
I reached out to get it resolved and the first person disconnected me before I could even talk and the second person would not help, she just kept repeating the same thing!
I had her provide me a numbers to contact someone, and the number she provided does not even work. They took Well over $100 from my account!
User's recommendation: Do not use!

Verified ReviewerI was trying to get an Income Tax...
- Paid $5 by Mastercard; faced $95 to get an answer.
- Claims false pretenses; asks about the payment.
- Does not want a membership and would not recommend.
I was trying to get an income tax answer to an inquiry, paid the $5.00 on my Mastercard (did not realize that it would be $95.00 for a membership before you can get an answer), which in my opinion is false pretense. Nonetheless, I have gone back on to the site; this is my fourth try, and all it wants me to do is pay more money.
I tried calling customer support, but that was a joke; I could not get a real person to talk to.
This has been a very frustrating experience, and I certainly would not recommend this company.
I want to know what you did with my payment, as I did not get an answer to my inquiry, and I certainly do not want a membership with you.
Please advise.

Verified ReviewerI am being billed monthly for ???
- Had trouble installing software and received help.
- Unknowingly joined a $40/month subscription and I want to cancel due to a tight Social Security budget.
I was having trouble installing software and needed help. I got the help, and that was nice.
I paid for it when I didn't know that I was joining something that was going to cost me $40 a month.
I am on Social Security and have a very, very tight budget, and I can't afford this, so I would like to cancel whatever subscription I inadvertently signed up for. Can you help me out with that?
- Very helpful and patient
- Read the fine print

Verified ReviewerCharged $70 when they said $5 refundable
- Thought it was Yahoo, spoke to JustAnswer rep.
- Service was $5 and refundable.
- Expert couldn't solve the Yahoo issue.
- Charged $70; deceptive, avoid them.
I had a problem with my Yahoo email account. I thought I was talking to Yahoo, but I was actually talking to a representative of JustAnswer.
They said it was $5.00 and refundable at the end of the conversation. So I gave them $5.00. The expert could not solve my Yahoo account problem and charged me $70.00!
This business is deceptive on the help and the charge! Don't use them!
- Website is unclear
User's recommendation: Do not use Just Answer they are deceptive!

Translation: I gave them my credit card and asked a few questions. I wasn't smart enough to understand that I was signing up for free trial (I gave them my credit card) that would turn into a subscription.
Now, I want to blame someone else for my not understanding the terms of service. There, I fixed it for you unless you want someone to believe that a company guess a random 16 digit out of 10 quadrillion chances.
They also guess an expiration date and three/four digit code. Personal Responsibility 101 is down the hall, to the right.
